Here's a tip from Saskboy (www.abandonedstuff.com) to reduce the space that long blogrolls take up:

From progressivebloggers.ca help page comes this code:

You can restrict the size of the list by employing a scrolling DIV container. To do this, insert the following code instead: Enclose the DIV to the last " mark in less than and greater than signs

div style="width: 200px; height: 300px; overflow: auto"

blogroll script tag goes here
/div

This will create a 200x300 pixel box that the list will fit in. If you want to change the size of the box, simply change the values of the width and height properties in the DIV tag.

If you want to see what the scroll box looks like, check out the blogrolls on his blog, or mine.

Thanks Skylark. I've been wanting to add that option for a while now but really wasn't motivated to do so until you suggested it. The option is there now.

There's a new blog about Newfoundland Classified Ads - nlclassifieds.wordpress.com

Can you add this?

It is rather interesting for me to read this blog. Thank you for it. I like such topics and everything that is connected to them. BTW, try to add some pics :).

Hey! I am a displaced Newfoundlander living in Saskatoon! My son's hockey team, the Saskatoon Wild Cats, has entered an online contest and he needs the voting support of his home province! They are trying to win a trip to Buffalo to attend the World Juniors! Here is the link:

http://www.timbrtube.ca/?vid=138

Let's show my son that with the support of Newfoundland and Labrador, there will be no stopping his team. Show him that we do not need a majority population to win...we just need passion! PLEASE GO TO THE LINK AND VOTE FOR THE SASKATOON WILD CATS!! NL...you son needs you....:)

Hi again Stephen - I have a question to you and the other bloggers - one that has been boggling me for a while - when someone clicks on a link on my blog (like the NLblogroll link) how can I get it to open in another window? My blog always redirects and I would prefer the other window option but can not find it in settings/formatting nor have I been able to figure it out from reading how-tos elsewhere....

thanks!!!

Stephen Eli Harris said...

Hi SJM,

I can help you with that. All you have to do is add target="_blank" to the HTML link code and that will open it in a new window.

For example:

{a href="http://nlblogroll.blogspot.com" target="_blank"}NL BLOGROLL{/a}

You have to replace the { } with < > though. I just couldn't actually put it here because it would have changed it to the link. :)

If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to ask!

SJM said...

Thanks for the reply! Where exactly would I put the code? I am mainly referring to the links I added using the html gadget from blogspot....
thanks again!

Stephen Eli Harris said...

Hey SJM, you would have to open up that gadget and update the code found in there to include the TARGET="_blank" part which makes it open in a new window. It should look something like below.

{a href="http://nlblogroll.blogspot.com" target="_blank"}NL BLOGROLL{/a}

Are you referring to the NL BlogRoll badge, by the way? Is that what you'd like to have open up in a new window?

SJM said...

I will try that - thanks again. It is pretty much any website I link to, either in my sidebar or in a post, NL Blogroll included :-)

Stephen Eli Harris said...

Yeah, that should work for any link you want to have. If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to ask. I'll help where I can!
